Where Are All The Mothers And The Wives?

It is that time of the year, where tensions are high as the exams are around the corner. Though half of the country is boiling with anger over the countless rapes of women and little girls in the nation, our universities continue to follow their routine of examinations. I belong to one such university and the whole last week was spent in filling up forms and paying fees for the same cause.
Though the medieval practice of filling up paper forms and standing in queues for hours together, when we belong to the age of internet, really frustrated me, what caused me more anger was the fact that every form asked for my father’s name or in some cases my husband’s name. Somehow, the women of my life where considered either non-existent or maybe not fit enough to be identified with.
Have women no identity?
In a time when people are protesting against heinous crimes such as rape, my little complaint of not including a woman at an equal position in the administration, might seem menial. Then again, it is the little changes that lead to the biggest impact.
Even when the trend of anti-corruption swallowed our nation, and everybody was filled with a zeal to fight corruption, the flame faded of soon. When in reality the real fighters of this cause are small actions taken by people every day. Little things such as teaching your kids to value the right things in life and not run after wealth alone, or choosing to pay the fine for not wearing the helmet instead of bribing the traffic policeman.
Even with the cause of the equal treatment of women, the little things in our daily lives, can bring the biggest impact. If we start genuinely considering women as equal, and include their names in places where only men stood before, then wouldn’t equality of women come naturally in the country? Waiting for big changes at the level of parliament and supreme courts would mean nothing, if in our everyday lives, we still fail to see women as equal, and fail to see women as that half of the society that can not only have its own identity, but also give identity to their children and spouses.

Yes, absolutely. Women are wives and mothers because of destiny likewise men become father. Arabic proverb says " The mothers are school for their children. It means mothers are the best educators in children lives. It would never happen to men since women have ability to educate children more. But, the responsibility to educate children are on both. So, if we fail to educate women we will fail to educate our generation. Women and men are equally same. God has created human-beings men are superior than women.
Discussing gender-inequality among women is unending topic. Both women and men have different standpoints. Men using EGO and women using EMOTION/FEELING. Men like mars and women like Venus. Let's see equality in other side. In case of filling form is a ad ministerial method to identify data at ease. Because every children belong to their parents. or, putting husband name is same. One should be note it is actually western culture where they always heal freedom and equality to the women. Meanwhile, in eastern culture we don't have such thing. I am sure, some of women will be happy or proud to put her husband names particularly when the husbands have shaken their hearts.......because of loving, caring, affecting and so on.
I think women also should aware if they have been exploited in the name of advertisements, market needs, modes. Do women aware that Bollywood movies have been exposed women sensuality too much nowadays as market stimulant to get more profit? Every time they will exploit new young beautiful actresses but interestingly the actors move around only Khan's clan which are 40s ages.....Complicated

    1. Thank you for your opinions.
I believe that this "western thought" that you speak of doesn't hold good in the argument of women equality. The whole point of saying women need to be treated equally doesn't mean, lets treat both the genders THE SAME. it means lets give both the gender EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES. Big difference and certainly very significant.
Moreover, there might be a few women proud to put their husband's name, but what about the women who are victims of domestic violence and abuse? Or those who choose not to have a man at all? Do women not have the right to NOT GET MARRIED and love independently? or are you trying to convey that eartesn thought entails that women are so weak that they can not live alone? If so, then "western thought" of women equality is something that you should consider beyond the rascist point the it is "western". There is no harm in accepting and applying something that is originally not native, but if it is better then why the fear of moving forward? Holding on to traditions and therefor denying HALF THE SOCIETY of its deserved opportunities based on their gender is unfair and totally an uneducated choice.
further regardless of what religion says MEN ARE NOT NOT NOT SUPERIOR TO WOMEN!we are equal. we are not the same, but we are equal!

Maybe I could n't explain clearly so some words missed. You can re-read carefully and take my points. I mean is putting last name is western culture (Not equality) and God has created human-beings same, men are not superior than women.

I strongly believe that women and men same. But, my point is the equality movement very often in opposite side. Take a look my last point. Women want to get equality one hand but the other hand they can not avoid "flattery" to expose them shelves which can downgrade their existence. Like accusations that men raped women because their bad-deeds or "dirt minds". Actually It is Yes, very True.... but to some extents, it is also because women too much expose their sensuality everywhere. therefore, in a country like US where they are very exposing sensuality, rape victims are more and more than any countries including with India.
I strongly agree women should keep fighting to get equality but they should be aware to their selves. say No, No, No, if somebody trap women in the name of career, art, fashion, etch.

My belief, Islam, has taught me very clearly that every human-beings are same only their piety toward God will differ. If any malpractices in society it because they forget religious creeds (teachings). Or, they translate religion creeds as their wish. I have read some books how prophet Muhammad used to do domestical works like to stitch his cloths, wash dish, cook etch. He was also very kind to her wives and his family. I can not imagine how he behaved like that where most the people in his time lowering women rights like killing daughters. Even all his children alive till adult were women (4 women). He said the best one among all of you who is the most kind to his family.

Western society is a good example how they fail to translate equality toward women with freedom misguided, then make their culture are blur. Western experts worry with moral decadency among them which weaken their existence. So, they will be destroy by their own.
